Ford F-350   |  500 Mile Test
09.23.2006

This week an F-350 Diesel was driven from Kansas City to Saint Paul. The distance was ~500 miles. The mileage without "The Gorilla" was 12.5. "The Gorilla" had been installed at the US Headquarters in Saint Paul MN and the truck began its return trip. The mileage climbed to 16.38 thus increasing the efficiency to greater than 30%.

It is important to note that the 300 mile break-in period was included in this test. The first 300 miles usually causes a slight decrease in the fuel economy for the first 100 miles and subsequently elevates slowly until it has made the majority of the adjustments at approximately the 300 mile mark.

The driver observed three other changes.

  1. The truck ran significantly quieter.
  2. Power was substantially increased and he had to use caution on how far he depresed the accelerator.
  3. The smell of Diesel diminished to extremely minor levels including when he started the truck he noticed that the level of smoke coming out of the tailpipe was nearly non existent and when he let the truck run inside the warehouse for over 30 minutes the ceiling had no significant haze.

[Please make sure to not attempt extended periods of running
vehicles inside an unventilated building]
